This page shows a variety of Rhea’s original oil paintings. Visions
overcome Rhea’s senses in a way that she hopes can be conveyed on
canvas. You may notice the concentration of intricate detail, as
seemingly insignificant as sparkling, golden ochre, pebbles beneath the
flow of a quiet brook as their geological ancestors still grace the
sky’s space as peaked silhouettes, a symbol of a path through time.
With the flowing movement of broader strokes, we are reminded of a
grander scale, as it’s all put together, often en plein air painting.
When plein air is not possible, considering the size and detail involve
with many works, Rhea enjoys the excursions to fascinating locations,
capturing composition, light, atmosphere and details with her own
photography, from both 35mm (still a favorite with her 25 year old
Canon) and a handy digital.
Artist’s work she admires and has
learned from are many. A few are; the drawing skills of Leonardo da
Vinci, painting skills of Thomas Eakins, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Jan
Vermeer, Maxfield Parrish, Robert Bateman and Carl Brender. Rhea enjoys
work on small vignette pieces as well as larger scale art that gives
the sensation of living with a view of the Adriondacks in your own
home, or company facility. Since most of her art has been acquired
through commission or private sales, available originals are limited.
You may contact Rhea for paintings in progress, or recently finished
works. Giclee Prints are also an available option.
